Ready to Try Injectables? Here’s What Every First-time Patient Should Know

Injectable wrinkle reduction

Injectable wrinkle reduction Have you started thinking about trying injectables after seeing how effective they have been for your friends or celebrities? They may be just the solution you’re looking for to tackle emerging signs of aging. Our beauty experts at D Luxe Lab are happy to answer your questions so you can make an informed decision as to whether injectables feel right for you. In this blog, our team shares some of the most important information so you know what to expect.

Injectables Are Versatile

Most injectables fit into one of two categories: botulinum toxins or dermal fillers. Botulinum toxins (like Botox and Dysport) temporarily freeze facial muscles that cause lines to form on the upper portion of your face. With these muscles immobilized, the lines can soften and fade from your brow for a smoother, rejuvenated appearance. Dermal fillers (like Juvéderm and Restylane) restore volume to aging, sagging skin. Extra volume can diminish the wrinkles on the lower portion of your face and provide attractive fullness to areas like the cheeks and lips.

The Treatment Is as Easy as Advertised

While some of our rejuvenation treatments require an hour in our office and a few days of downtime after, injectables are a breeze in comparison. The entire treatment can be completed in about 15 minutes. Upon completion, you are free to return to work, run errands or meet with friends socially. While there may be slight, temporary skin irritation at the injection point, it should be subtle enough that you have no hesitation continuing to show your face to the world.

Don’t Worry About Pain

Although it is normal for patients to be nervous around needles, almost all our patients agree that discomfort from this treatment is minimal. You may notice a pinching sensation when the needle first penetrates your skin, but that is usually the extent of the discomfort because your skin has numbed with a topical agent and many injectables now contain anesthetics like lidocaine. You may notice some mild soreness or sensitivity linger in the treatment area, but that should dissipate quickly.

You Can Continuously Perfect the Results

The temporary nature of injections (with effects lasting for anywhere between a few months and a couple years depending on the type of injection) is usually an asset rather than a downside. By returning for periodic touchups, you can request that your injector make slight changes to refine the look. Perhaps you want certain lines less visible or more fullness in your cheeks and lips: all of these requests can be addressed with slight modifications in the type or amount of injectable used.
